Unemployment

Below are 2 maps addressing unemployment within the 50 states. Map 1) unemployment rates by states, seasonally adjusted as of August 2020; map 2) the change in unemployment over the past 12 months. If you look at a state like Nevada which is shown to have one of the highest rates of unemployment as of August 2020. You will also see that a significant portion of that unemployment came during the past 12 months, the same can be said for New York and California. Arizona shows a different progression with a current rate of unemployment of 6.2 to 6.6 percent and only a small portion of that came in the past 12 months. Alaska is another example of a state that saw most of its unemployment existing before August 2019. (Source: BLS.gov)
